Hanseatic Town Tour

Imagine: the quays are lined with ships, trade is flourishing and the town is buzzing with energy. But the Hanseatic era was more than that; it was an explosion of art and culture. And now, four Hanseatic cities are once again being given their own musical voice, expressed through new compositions that bring to life the character, story and soul of these cities.

Themes such as connectedness, water, prosperity, trade and city life run through the Hanseatic Cities Tour. Four international composers – Alison Isadora, Reza Namavar, Silvia Borzelli and Asim Singh Halwarvi – have translated these centuries-old Hanseatic themes into new, contemporary compositions.

In addition, writer Bas Steman takes the audience on a journey through the history of the Hanseatic cities. Through spoken word, he weaves tales of their origins, heyday, transformation and present-day reality into the music, bringing past and present together in a multi-layered musical journey.
