Philosophy course | The Socratic dialogue – by Corrie Haverkort

Listening effectively isn’t as easy as it sounds. Nor is clearly expressing what you feel and mean. Before you know it, you’re in the middle of a discussion where everyone is trying to convince the other person, or you fall silent because you can’t see any other way out. ‍

In the Socratic Dialogue course, you’ll practise asking the right questions and listening attentively. You’ll learn to see through difficult dilemmas and identify what the discussion is really about. You’ll learn to articulate your own ideas and opinions clearly, to examine entrenched beliefs and to be open to new insights.

‍Corrie Haverkort
The course is taught by philosopher Corrie Haverkort. She has many years’ experience in teaching philosophy courses, both at Dat Bolwerck, at the ISVW (International School of Philosophy) and at the Academy of Crete. She is also regularly called upon to provide ethical consultation for various organisations, boards of directors and private clients. At Dat Bolwerck , she has been running the Socratic dialogue course for many years, offering both introductory courses for those with an interest and more in-depth courses for professionals.

Practical information
Cost: €375, including a course booklet, coffee and tea, and a delicious organic lunch on Saturdays and Sundays.
Minimum of 8 and maximum of 16 participants. Lectures, discussions and the practice of the Socratic dialogue technique in small groups will alternate.
