The photographs by visual artist and photographer Awoiska van der Molen represent an abstraction of the natural world. In her black-and-white images, nature does not appear as a subject of observation, but as the experience of being within the landscape.
At Dat Bolwerck , her audiovisual installations – in which photography and contemporary classical music converge – are on display together for the first time. In recent years, Van der Molen has collaborated with internationally renowned composers and musicians from the world of contemporary classical music. Her analogue photographic images were transformed into projections that formed an inseparable unity with the music during live performances.
The exhibition also extends into the public spaces of Zutphen. In the nearby Emerpark, monumental glass sculptures incorporating Van der Molen’s photographs will be on display throughout the exhibition period.
