Baakse Beek Art Biennale
until 13 September
Experience the Baakse Beek in a different way this summer: by bike along a unique art trail. Enjoy the authentic Achterhoek countryside whilst gaining a fresh perspective on climate change. A blend of art and climate awareness: THAT is the Baakse Beek Art Biennale 2026, running from 13 June to 13 September in the Landgoederenzone between Ruurlo and Vorden.
Each artwork is accompanied by a poem by the artist, in Dutch and translated into the Achterhoek dialect. This means you’re not just looking at a monumental sculpture, but also taking a moment to reflect on the landscape around you – and on the changes taking place within it.
As a visitor, you can truly experience the area…

As a visitor, you can truly experience the area along the cycle route of around 30 kilometres, which connects all the artworks. You’ll cycle through the beautiful bocage landscape of the Achterhoek, past country estates, streams, woods and water. At each artwork, there’s also a sign from the Rijn en IJssel Water Board or Staatsbosbeheer, explaining the landscape as it is today and how it might develop in the future.
So, would you like to cycle a lovely route, discover art and experience the Baakse Beek estate area in a new way?
This summer, hop on your bike, follow the Baakse Beek and discover how visual art allows the landscape to tell a new story.
