Overtuin opened during the Open Monument Days
until 13 September
Nature
On 12 and 13 September, during the national Open Monument Days, de Overtuin will be open to the public. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone who hasn’t yet discovered this beautiful garden to get to know this special place. Admission is free on both days. Visitors are often pleasantly surprised after a stroll through the garden and, quite rightly, refer to ‘ de Overtuin ’ as ‘Warnsveld’s best-kept secret’. This year, you’ll also find an Open Monument Days information point at ‘ de Overtuin ’.
What can you expect from a visit to this nearly 200-year-old landscape garden? De Overtuin is a well-maintained small park garden with many remarkable trees, including the oldest honey tree in the Netherlands. In 2019/2020, de Overtuin was named Monument of the Year, making it the first green monument to receive this title.

As well as the historic garden, there is also an apiary in the orchard. The apples from the orchard are pressed into juice. This refreshing Overtuin apple juice is served on the charming terrace, alongside delicious homemade cakes. On Sundays, from 2.00 pm, there is also live piano and guitar music on the terrace.
Frederike Doeleman is exhibiting in the gallery. In the exhibition ‘Into my garden’, she is showing works on paper and monotypes. Frederike will be present in the gallery on both days to explain her work. In her printmaking, she uses printing inks, sometimes further developing her pieces with pen, pencil, pastels, paint or collage. Nature is also a key source of inspiration for her work on paper: the beauty and continuity of life, represented by the elements of air, fire, water and earth, and by trees, plants and flowers.
The Blue Room hosts a small exhibition about ‘ de Overtuin ’ itself. There are also six etchings on display by the artist Hans Schuppers, who passed away on 7 March this year.
