Sorry, this activity is no longer available. Check the current offer for available options.

On Sunday 27 September, Zutphen’s historic town centre will be transformed into one huge chocolate paradise. During the 22nd edition of the Chocolate Festival, from 12.00 to 17.00, the city will be entirely dedicated to chocolate, cocoa, creativity and conviviality. Admission is free.

Chocolatiers and other artisans from across the country introduce visitors to their craftsmanship and passion for chocolate. From handmade bonbons and pralines to brownies, fudge, nougat and macarons: there is plenty to discover and, of course, to taste. During demonstrations, various chocolatiers will show how their special creations are made.

The Chocolate Festival isn’t just about tasting, but also about experiencing. Spread throughout the town centre, music, workshops and various activities create a convivial festival atmosphere. For children, there is a special children’s area on the Schupstoel, featuring a puppet show, candyfloss with cocoa and the chance to decorate a brownie. At the campfire activity organised by the Jan van Riebeeck Scouts, children can roast their own marshmallows.

There is also a striking chocolate challenge: try to free a chocolate bar from a large block of ice using a hammer.

The Chocolate Festival coincides with The Big Draw art festival and Sunday shopping. It’s a great opportunity to combine chocolate and activities with a spot of shopping and a visit to Zutphen’s historic town centre.
