Everywhere you look in Zutphen, you see the most extraordinary historical buildings. Did you know that this city has over nine hundred (national) monuments? From churches to almshouses, from city gates to shop premises. Several monuments can also be visited from the inside. Climb the Wijnhuistoren, for instance, and enjoy a magnificent view over the city. Visit the Sint Janskerk, the synagoge or the medieval chain library De Librije. Even while shopping, you can experience the history to the full, as many shops and restaurants are located in monumental buildings.

In Zutphen, much heritage is open to visitors, but during the open monument days in the second weekend of September, many heritage sites whose doors are normally closed are open to the public. These days are all about connecting people to monuments. Showcasing the stories and beauty of these monuments, which enrich the city.
De Hanzeaat
Visit De Hanzeaat in the Bourgonjetoren and experience the Zutphen of the Hanze era in an interactive way. A multimedia educational experience in a medieval defence tower! The model of 'Zutphen in 1485' shows what the city looked like then. The Guild's monument guides will be happy to tell you all about it.
