Bibliotheek Broederenkerk

In 2017, the library in the Broederenkerk was completely renovated and modernised. The renovated library has a reading café with coffee corner, many workstations, thirty computers, extra strong wifi and rooms where courses or workshops can be held.

History
The Broederenkerk is one of the few well-preserved monastery churches in the Netherlands. Around 1306 - 1307, the Broederenkerk was built as a monastery church of the Dominican Friars Minor or 'preachers'. This monastic order of mendicant monks settled in Zutphen in 1288. After years of vacancy after 1970, the municipality of Zutphen bought the building in 1980, after which the public library found a special home there. Renovations took place in 2001 and in 2017.
