Theater Oostpool: The Nether (try-out)

Log in to your darkest fantasy

Jeroen Spitzenberger and Gaite Jansen play the leading roles in this gripping story about human connection in the digital age, directed by Daria Bukvić (known for, amongst other things, *The Almighty Sometimes* and *ALETTA the musical*).

In the near future, The Nether will exist: a virtual world without boundaries. Here, people assume alternative identities and live out fantasies that would be unthinkable in real life. Without judgement. Without consequences.

When a young detective begins an investigation into this cutting-edge AI environment, she soon begins to wonder just how innocent The Nether really is. After all, if nothing is real, does that mean there are no moral standards either?

As the boundary between fantasy and reality continues to blur, the characters move along a sliding scale between self-control and losing their way. Does virtually indulging our deepest desires bring us freedom? Or does this virtual world have unexpected consequences?

‘The Nether’ is a gripping thriller that doesn’t tell us what we think, but forces us to explore where our limits lie.
